Impact Detection Technologies was born this week. After thorough research and some hotly contested topics to choose from, we have decided to spend our time at the Tokyo Institute of Technology researching real time analysis of head impacts. We wanted to challenge ourselves with a novel undertaking in a field where little previous work has been conducted. After a week of research on topics proposed by team members, head impact detection was quickly revealed as the most appropriate. To our delight, our supervising professor, Yusuke Miyazaki, is an expert within the field of head impact simulation and validation. We all can’t wait to trial our work on crash test dummies!
A welcome party on the Friday night hosted by our laboratory members made for a lovely evening where our minds were briefly taken off work. A huge thank you to the organisers for getting in enough beer, whisky and sake to satisfy our stereotypical Scottish thirst!
The hard work begins on Monday where we need to ensure we are well prepared and kick the project off in the right direction!
