Final Weeks

Crunch time was the phrase of the week with a lot of work needing to be shifted by Friday. Thankfully the guys pulled together and we had a really positive week putting to bed some of the aspects of the project for good…. Hopefully. Aiming to finish up everything by the 11th December as well as provide a great presentation the following week meant it was time to really wrap things up and start putting together a final report.

On the FEA side of things, the team put in a solid shift, finishing all cases as well as extracting all of the data required. Some serious sensei discussions will provide focus for the week ahead allowing a novel brain injury criterion to be finalised.

Some more testing of the prototype should put this aspect of the project to bed with some really positive results and some work needed to still be done on analysing the data output – shouldn’t be beyond us though. The test rig has done a sterling job and the electronics side of things is coming through with Bluetooth communications achieved.

Wireless communications have allowed the team to finally connect our prototype with our computer application, allowing this side of the project to progress along much further than previously. Graphs and clear information are the buzz words flying.

With some solid work completed on the miniaturising of the test rig to the size of an actual gum guard, the team are looking forward to seeing a truly minute version of what we have spent so long designing.

A really encouraging week, lots of hard work but we’re making good progress looking towards our deadlines.
