A Satisfied Sensei!

This week saw major developments on all fronts here at IDT. Firstly, we would like to welcome the arrival of Tuan Nguyenhoanganh who will assist on the FEA subgroup, welcome Tuan.

So this week...

Ryan Cogan working in our FEA subgroup made a considerable breakthrough with the discovery of accurate data for composition of loads cases. He has also derived the coupling equation for the feedback device allowing us to transform accelerations to the centre of gravity of the head. Ongoing design work by Robert Peacock has put us well ahead of schedule on this task with completion anticipated in the week ahead. Great milestones reached, well done guys!

The main decision this week, headed by Peter Sclare, has been to improve the current sensory array over concerns of device accuracy. Though the new, dual accelerometer device means more work, reference to our project plan shows we have the capability and time. Thus, collectively and with Miyazaki-sensei’s consent, we have decided to take this route forward given the prospective benefits for the final prototype. Furthermore, development on the GUI is ongoing with significant progress made by Kobayashi-san. All in all an excellent week for the feedback subgroup, keep it up!

In other work, group leader Campbell McFadden has proposed a novel theory for concussion severity indication and probability based on our FEA results which will link the two main parts of the project. With Miyazaki-sensei attending our weekly meeting, presentation of this proposal was met with delight and enthusiasm. Our best week yet, roll on Week 5!
