Laying foundations and building blocks.

Another week of great work has led to the conclusion of IDT’s initial background investigation. Great progress has also been made by our prototype fabrication and software development sub-team and market research is nearing completion.

Four distinct literature reviews have been completed: “Injury Criteria”, “Injury Mechanisms”, “Feedback Devices” and “Concussions in Sport”. Each paper forms the foundations for the rest of the IDT project and will be used as reference throughout our time in Japan. All four papers will be available on our Deliverables page shortly.

The prototype fabrication and software development team have been working on the optimisation of the sensor array, increasing data quantity and speed of the device. A data filtration system is also and a graphic user interface (GUI) for the device is also being developed.

Market research is ongoing and nearing conclusion. Upon completion, IDT will have a solid understanding of potential gaps in the market to be exploited and/or development opportunities of existing products.

Next week will see IDT continuing to build blocks on our solid foundation of subject understanding. The analysis sub-team will begin FEA analysis using our established knowledge of concussion injury criteria and concussion mechanisms developed this week. Further developments and improvements will be made with the sensor arrays and serial coms and an initial investigation will be made into the viability of manufacturing our product.
